Lamb’s Bread, also sold as Lamb’s Breath, is a sativa from Jamaica whose breeder and parents are unknown; the only parent Leafly lists is the Jamaican landrace itself.1,2 It tests at a median total THC of 22.74% across 117 state lab tests of Lamb’s Bread flower, with the middle half of results between 19.05% and 25.37%, but the sample is lopsided: 91 of the 117 tests come from Maryland, 76.1% from a single lab, and none reports individual terpenes.3 The Bob Marley connection is repeated by every strain database and documented by none: Leafly says it is “believed” to have been one of his favorites, Weedmaps that it is “thought” to be a Jamaican variety he popularized.1,4

A sativa, by label. Leafly files it as a sativa, AllBud gives a 95% sativa / 5% indica split, Weedmaps calls it a sativa-dominant hybrid, and seed sellers say 95% sativa or pure sativa.1,4,5,9,12 The label is not a measurement: in a 2015 genetic study, a sample sold as 100% sativa “Jamaican Lambs Bread” was nearly identical to a reported 100% indica from Afghanistan.6
Mid-to-high in our data, with a catch. The median total THC across 117 state lab tests was 22.74%, and 29.1% of tests reached 25% or more.3 The two states disagree: Maryland’s 91 tests have a median of 23.82%, Washington’s 26 a median of 17.42%, and 76.1% of all tests come from one lab.3 Strain databases publish lower figures: 18% on Leafly, 16–21% on AllBud and 10–15% on Weedmaps.1,4,5
The databases treat them as one strain: Leafly lists Lamb’s Breath as an alias of Lamb’s Bread, Weedmaps lists Lamb’s Bread, Lambsbread, Lambs Breath and Lamb Breath as aliases of Lamb’s Breath, and our lab matching accepts all of these spellings.1,3,4 Breeder James Riddle argues the two names may once have meant different plants; another seed seller says “no one really knows”.13,14
Nobody can show it. Leafly says it is “believed to have been one of Bob Marley’s favorite strains”, its list of the 100 best strains says it is “rumored” to have been, Weedmaps says it is “thought” to be a Jamaican variety he popularized, and seed sellers repeat the claim as fact.1,4,9,15 None of them cites a source or a quotation, and we found none.
Earthy and woody with spice. Leafly users list woody, earthy and spicy/herbal; on Weedmaps, 39% of flavor reports say earthy, 32% pine and 29% flowery; AllBud adds a cheese and skunk aroma.1,4,5 Leafly’s own page disagrees with itself about the terpene behind it: the prose calls caryophyllene dominant, the panel puts myrcene first.1
Only from licensed stores where cannabis is legal for you, and few list it. On Oct 3, 2026, Weedmaps showed Lamb’s Breath flower at 23 store listings in 7 of 27 US markets, 8 of them within 50 miles of Boston.16

Lamb’s Bread is better known than it is sold. Leafly includes it in its list of the 100 best strains of all time, among the strains for feeling energetic, and its Leafly page has 907 ratings; AllBud has 17 reviews.1,5,15 It does not appear in the sales rankings we checked: Leafly’s best-selling strains of 2025 and The Marijuana Herald’s September 2026 list of the top seller in each adult-use state.17,18
On Oct 3, 2026, Weedmaps showed Lamb’s Breath flower at 23 store listings in 7 of 27 US markets.16 Our lab dataset holds 117 strictly matched tests from two states, against 161 results for a CBD product line sold as “19 LAMBSBREAD (CBD)”, which we excluded.3
The name’s real footprint is in reggae. Sylford Walker recorded the single “Lamb’s Bread” with producer Glen Brown in the mid-to-late 1970s, and UB40’s “Lamb’s Bread” (1981) was written as part of the band’s campaign for the legalisation of cannabis.7,8
